Some of you may recall me mentioning our prize tangerine Jason's younger brother, Sunset, a while back. Both of these crazy-colored boys in our collection are from the Gecko Genetics line.
Sunset is still growing and his color is spreading and deepening now. His head is almost pure red. Thanks to Jason Haygood for producing these amazing tangs for us. Their babies will be divine.....

That's what I thought when I first saw their juvie pics from Jason Haygood too until I saw them in person. Everyone who sees these two tangs in person is in shock. I can't wait to see the babies, but the girls I have are not as intense. I do have one female from JMG that is awesome though and I'll pair her with Jason, so those should be pretty close to Jason level in color and CT. You need to fly out to CO to take a look, Paul.....

ray, little sunny is an amazing gecko for sure. however might i suggest you take a look at the saturation setting on your camera or calibrating your monitor. the colors look way over saturated. it could be my computer but i do not think so. if you need any help getting your camera settings set i can help you and here are some useful tolls that are on the web.

I know jason's animals well and happen to be a mod on a photosite for 6 years.

That is a great tang by all means, but the image is indeed too contrasty and saturated

sorry about the caps, it was not intended earlier. I am not trying to be mean either :D

I took those pics in a dimly lit room with no lightbox since that was all at the store. But believe me this is how he looks...hard to believe huh? I also do not have a great camera, but it does OK. When you hold these two animals in a sunny window the colors will astound you.

Here is a pic of Sunset when he was a baby. Jason said it broke his heart to box him up because he was so intensely orange he hated to give him up.

Like I said. an awesome tang indeed. I never doubted it's amazing color, only the contrast. You stated why it's contrasty which is flash as main on a hard to meter background color.

When I first took that pic of Jason we have up on our site, I emailed it to a good camera buff friend. First thing he said was "Is this pic photoshopped???!" He couldn't believe it was not enhanced in any way.
The next week he came over for dinner and the first thing he wanted to see was that bright orange gecko. When he saw it he immediately said HOLY #*&%! It really does look like that!

I was VERY fortunate to be able to be offered the cream of the crop last tangs from Jason at GG, and I jumped on it. Of the grouping, these two males really stood out and I decided to keep them...the rest were sold except one nice (although not as intense) female we kept to keep the old GG line going.

BTW, someone bought Big Sunny from Jason Haygood and I'd like to know how to find out who it is. I'd love to offer to buy him or a few males from him if anyone should know him. He was a great bright orange tang that produced these stunners I was able to luckily get for my humble collection.

My intent is to pass on their high quality genetics, health profile, beautiful orange coloration with intense 10 ring+ carrot tails, etc. and get them into the leo community. We have already gotten requests for these babies and have had to develop a list to be fair about it. I may breed Sunset to Venus, our beautiful Albey Torrid Tang Enigma girl. His intense orange color mixed with hers should be OK looking......

Night Night All....I think I'll have a tangerine before I go to bed. :main_laugh:

Ray, That Tang is awesome! If it was too high of contrast the toes would have bleed out into the background. You can see the true white on the tail and in the toes. The aqua background and ridiculous colored tang makes it look photoshop'd but it is not.

Incredible gecko!

Thanks Thad, I fully understand why some pics stand out like that. It just so appears that our geckos may look that way. One thing is, like JMG and other good breeders invested lots of money into buying the very best leos out there, they'd wait for just the right ones and grab em. That's what we did with our small collection. We bought the best we could afford (Many of our geckos were high end leos $600-900), were very choosy and fussy, and we buy the best breeding stock and collector leos from the best sources out there who have 5 star geckos and importantly high quality animal care procedures, which we are very big on. We feel we have among the best geckos in the......town of Hygiene!
Let's all have a gecko convention out there some day. Perfect setup in the most beautiful place you can imagine. Maybe we could get a few speakers to come in and give seminars, etc. Maybe I can get someone to teach me Genetics!! I could get our affiliated Vet to give a talk on leo health, etc.

I'll try to put up a Store youtube soon so you can see the Gecko Palace.

The best way to remove any doubt is to take a photo of the animal in natural light without using the flash...

Awesome tangerine you have there... No doubt Jayson made some beautiful leos..
