While We Have Interest In Gecko Bites......
Here are some forum members that gave up
Those Photos To Let the Unbelievers See Some damage..........

I have seen a male death clamp on to another male.....MIST BOTTLE RELEASE
Adults geckos have quite a jaw strength.........

The best "release" valve is the mist bottle..
Or: Dynamite!

take care......or bite back... Hj

Well, I don't have any photos, but I do have some wonderful stories about life as a vet tech :)

I think it would be shorter to list what I haven't been bitten by...The majority of the bites i've sustained were from animals that were being anesthetized, so I really don't hold MOST of them accountable...as a veterinary nurse i'm quite good with restraint, but as we all know, (poop) happens. So far nothing venomous has tagged me, as the only thing i've ever handled were a couple of gila monsters and a juvenile gaboon, which was AWESOME btw...and no arachnids. ::shudders:: Bird bites really suck, especially aggressive, unsocialized macaws that have never seen daylight and literally CHARGE and attack you...full spread wings, giant open beak, chasing me around the clinic while I scream for my mommy...Oh, I love those. Countless amounts of cat bites and infections, a few of them requiring IV antibiotics & stitches...one that required me to receive a rabies series.

The worst "bite" that I ever sustained was from a can opener. I went to remove the can of food and it sliced me right open... I ended up needing emergency surgery to repair the nerve damage in my fingers. So that's the only thing I try & avoid. :main_rolleyes:

I got "bitten" reasonably badly by a pop-top tuna can once, now I have a weird phobia. :tongue3:

I've never had any really big birds bite me, but I've seen cockatoos slice through almost every substance softer than iron like it was butter, so it's gotta hurt!

BITE AWARENESS WEEK

What I love is how y'all were bleeding all over the place, but still had the presence of mind to get out the camera and snap a pic. ;)

Well Cricket Wrangler, you are right.
I guess some forum members feel passing on information
in photos is worth the time.
I think you will agree the photos are worth a 1000 words.
Take care. HJ

It's wasn't the "take the time" part that stood out to me so much as the "able to have coherent thoughts other than 'OMIGAWD IT'S STILL BLEEDING MAKE IT STOP!!!' " part. ;) I don't do pain well.

I used to be a vet tech and volunteer at a zoo so I feel for you there lol. My worsts were a crazy macaw biting my arm and a great dane coming about half an inch from biting the side of my face, although he didn't actually bite me I still about pooped myself.

Umm...Maybe it's just me...But what are you doing to your gecko for it to attach on to your lips?? I'm sorry but kissing a gecko is just asking for trouble. I don't care if you've had one for 15 years. I don't feel sorry if someone receives a bite that way. Your gecko doesn't understand the concept of a "kiss" it probably is stressed and thinks you're trying to eat it! What do you think will happen?! None of my lizards ever get that close to my face, you just can't trust them. Other then that, the other bites are more understandable. I have not had any bite that bad from a reptile, yet. I've handled a lot...from geckos - monitors. The worse bite so far, was feeding a raspberry to a adult male iguana. On the other hand I've been whipped by tails, when that comes from a 6' plus animal, in the stomach, it hurts!

A lot of people try to kiss their animals.
A lot of people get their faces mauled.
What I don't get is people who try to kiss parrots.
Or rodents.
Do you *want* to lose an eye?
