It's just the whole "naming" something that already exists, a good while after it was first produced consistently. Like it's something new. Almost seems like a marketing scam gone bad. Maybe I'll never be able to explain it, but I'm sure many think it but wish to not say anything.

As for Atheris, I've been working my a** off to get them in. Right now I have the squams coming, as well as a brand new species never seen in captivity, Atheris katangensis. I'm excited, more nice venomous coming my way shortly. Not to mention other really cool first imports and rare offerings of herps and zoological fish. Oh, did I mention I finally have a Wild caught leo shipment coming in about a month? Every subspecies, plus a few REALLY COOL surprizes.

Yeah, I was wondering why I keep getting flowers sent to my door witht he guy reading outload, "Your special to me" signed "Paul". At first it freaked me out, but I simply just tore the note off and gave them to my wife and said, "I love you". Keep them coming, I'm starting to look like the worlds best husband.

Hehehee, seriously, I have some species that would blow your mind! Well, except for that damn hardwickii!

all i know after seeing this thread. is i think it is ridiculous to name or rather rename a combination of morphs that have been around for a couple of years already and charging people a buttload for something thats been around (again for a couple of years) BUT putting a new name on it and posting it as a "new morph" when it isnt a new morph but rather just a combination of two and to be honest you can make your own for less than half the price. sounds like a rip off marketing thingie. bah this is the kinda crap i can't stand

but thats just it, they didnt really call it a persay a new morph, there biggest claim was that the creamcycles are third generations. im not a big fan of JMG, but i will admit, i do think the hypo X snows they have produced deserve the name creamcycle.

JMG posted the first ones that I saw over a year ago and have posted many killer looking ones since, I just think they waited awhile to tag the name on. Those latest orange ones are on another level though. If they're going to be named, at least the first one to show them did it. Personally, I think the Jeffs are great guys and a hoot to yack with, plus they hold nothing back when it comes to their animals. They're among the very first to have all the neat stuff and stick with their breeding programs for years.

dan while i understand where you are coming from. i know of many people that produced them before him and they still [produce them just a nice if not nicer but because of they simply call them what they are super hypo mack snows, while gorgeous in their own right these people do not consider them anything special. so yeah he is marketing them uner a new name but it just seems funny to coin a name to a combination of morphs that has been out there for years and people are already working on and refining.. they are just person x's super hypo mack snows come pared to the same "cremecicle"

the whole creamsicle name seems to be really be getting peoples backs up. I think they have been quite good and honest about this morph and how they created thier animals that they are describing as 'creamsicles'.
i dont see it as any different to the sunglows and such that are out there..

i know i am new to the forum and things, so just my 2cents.

I completely agree with you. Before Creamsicles there were tangerine tonados. They are just a SHTCT with intense orange. the genetics are not different but since they were different from the norm they got their own name. same with sunglows, Why not just call them super hypo albinos? I don't care either way. The name of the morph is not going to sell me no mater what you call it. the gecko itself is what I am concerned with. I don't see a problem giving something a new name if it is changes visually from the normal version.

First of, it's great to see you posting regularly again, Robin. You're always entertaining and were sorely missed last year. I can understand both sides of the debate and agree that the combo has been around for over a year , most of them I'd seen on JMG's available page. I was just bummed when it went from disagreeing on the marketing thing to some people posting their negative personal opinions. From having great personal experienes in ordering from them and talking with them at Daytona, my take is that the Jeffs are a great father/son team. Just because our viewpoints on marketing geckos may vary doesn't make them any less cool.

I don't think it's the same with super hypo albinos at all. All three are coined diff names due to the different albino strains, even though that's whay they are. There has to be a way to distinct the albino, otherwise you'd be tacking on tremper, bell or rw on the end, just so people aren't breeding 2 "super hypo albinos" together thinking they'll get one thing, and if the albinos are diff strains get something else.

So I guess the breeders who have bred and have "creamsicles" that are just as nice or better are they suposed to start calling them that and raise the prices on them?
Or just raise the prices and if someone asks say they are the same thing?
What will you guys who do have the same do? Have you thought about it?

i agree with brandy and dan..
i personally don't know nothing about jmg other than my experience with them..and i'm really saticsfate..
i understand the new trend in geckommunity "give a name for everyting that you hatchling" ;) and i understand when robin say to hate this..
but i personally think jmg mack hypo look little different..
i'm not concern about price or politic...
i only think they are different from others that i see (more fixed with colour and trait than other hypo mack )

i have some mack hypo from them but i think the name is a "bloodline name"..
and i don't call mine from their mack hypo creamsicle before to ask to them if babies will be in standard...
for sure we will see a TOOOON of "maybe - creamsicle" around this season haahhaha

I would like to remind everyone (this is not directed at anyone one in particular) that this is the "Morphs and Genetics" forum. Posts and comments regarding ethics should be limited to the "Ethics" forum, where names are to be left out of ethical debates. Please just keep this in mind. Thanks for reading.

understood dan :D

nice to see you hanging around these parts too. (i can see better so that helps when posting in forums) my vision had gotten so bad that i would try to avoid most forum type thingies and get russ to post or post something real quick like. so the new corneas and new glasses are helping immensely :main_robin:
