If there is some significant "other" person involved with hatching the first Enigmas, then it is not known about by me.
Or anyone else in the gecko world, as far as I understand and have researched. I'm curious as to what you mean, Matt.

Alberto,
Mark Bell hatched out the first Enigmas. He sent some to me to play with and cross into some other morphs. At the time, the morph did not really have a name, and so I came up with the name Enigma. Mark ASKED me to come up with a name. I thought it was a pretty cool name that fit this brand new morph that we really didn't know that much about. I did lots of marketing and sold some of the first Enigmas on the market for Mark while keeping a percentage of the money for myself. I never took credit for hatching the first Engimas, I always gave Mark credit for that.
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make with your comments...
I heard Mark Bell bought the first enigma through the grapevine, maybe you do not even know for sure, or maybe I heard wrong? The first name of enigma was high whites at Marks place, but I guess enigma sounds better for what reason? As you said it was marketing that you did for the rest, which is exactly what everyone is doing with the naming of new combo morph or selective line breeding and so am I. If is true or not I felt to be the only one judged for it and that is not fair. Everybody does the same thing one way or another that is marketing our animals the best way we can and lets admit it, as simple as that.

Alberto,

I don't believe that for a second. Mark had been telling about Steve and me about the "strange geckos" he had been hatching out for a few years before I ever even saw a photo of one, much less saw one in person. I never heard any mention of the name "High White", ever. Don't you think I would have heard about that, considering the relationship my husband and Mark have? I have no idea who your "grapevine" source is but it sounds to me like they are full of poo.

I said I marketed the Enigmas for him (and everyone). That means I advertised them. Anyone that sells geckos has to advertise them. What does that have to do with the fact that some disagree (or agree) about the naming of new combo morphs?

Also, let me just say this. If the story that you (Alberto) posted is true, then someone lied out their ass to me. I don't believe it is true, it sounds like some nasty rumour someone started. Who is the supposed source of the "High Whites" then?

All right. Enough is enough people! Who the HELL do you think you people are!

I have known Mark for a very long time, longer than some of you have even been alive. He has personally told me for a number of years about these strange geckos that he had been hatching out. He didn't know what they were and it took me years to even see a picture of the things.

Finally Mark sent some to us on loan, as Kelli stated. We spoke on numerous occasions as to what to call the things. Kelli came up with Enigma because it was the perfect fit. Mark liked it as well and the rest everyone knows.

You are hearing it now from the Horses mouth so to speak.

I spoke to someone there at Marks place a few months ago when i purchased 10 more enigma from them and they told me this. No more no less, if they lied to me that I do not know. They called enigma high whites.

Well, the grapevine is from someone that works in Marks place in the leopard gecko department. It also possible that they are full of poo but as I said it should be researched better. Also ask the people that work there what they called enigma before enigma and maybe still now and let me know, and this is a fact because I spoke to someone about enigma and he did not even know what I was talking about and then he told me, oh yeah, the high whites, and this is not long ago when I purchased 10 more enigmas from them directly.

Well you know what? Maybe the workers do call them "High Whites" among themselves but Mark did not and does not. Mark Bell is the OWNER so I would tend to go by what he says, not someone that works for him in the leopard gecko building(he has 30+ employees).

Like I said, I have never heard them referred to as "High Whites", until now that is.

Well, Kelli, is not worth our time, I just regret it went the way it did. If you were in my shoes I beleive you would have done the exact same thing I did, defend my name and tell the truth. This is hobby and business for many of us, if some people do not agree with some business practice I would love it to be handle in a more respectfull way.

I have also recept for those 10 animals if you do not believe me.

It makes no difference to me about the receipt. Maybe whoever wrote it was an employee, I really don't care. They are Enigmas, period, that's what they are known as all around the world. I don't give two craps what Mark's workers call them. The owner of the company calls them Enigmas.

I can't believe the direction this thread has gone, and I know I am responsible for starting it. My intention in starting this thread was indeed controversial, but in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined it to bring people against each other like this. I am so very sorry that this is happening. I truly wanted this to be different than it is. EVERYONE has a right to their opinions and feelings here, even if we do not agree! Please forgive me for this thread...

I feel like I need to put on my moderator's hat again... even temporarily, and close this thread! I know Kelli is th owner of this site, and will probably re-open it, but I am overwhelmed right now with the responsiblitly to the gecko community to at least make an effort to step in and say, ENOUGH!!! There is too much at stake here... people, please! Let's take this offline and TALK to each other by phone, email or PM now.

Thank you, and I truly care about what's best for each of us, and the Leopard Gecko community.
