Have you ever hatched out a snake eyed eclipse, or do they always come out solid black and fade into snake eyes later?

I have hatched out snake eyed eclipses. I also have noticed that most of the eclipses that I hatch out as snake eyes will begin to decrease in percentage of eclipse coverage as they mature.

I was asking about immediately after hatching though, not as adults. My first eight eclipses hatchlings all hatched with solid eyes, then most of them have faded to snake eyes as they grew. My most recent hatchling popped out with 50/50 snakes eyes, so I wanted to know if that was a common occurrence or if there may be something else going on.

Actually Tony I'm glad u posted this question, I posted a similar post way back.i thought the red eyes are permanent from the get go but apparently some do turn into snake eyes which I didnt know..It'll be interesting how ppl respond. At what age does the red eyes become permanent?

We've hatched lots of snake eyes that decrease slightly, some with one normal and one solid that actually stayed, and one with two solid eyes that stayed. With our Eclipses I haven't seen much of a pattern with the amount of black in the eye or how much stays after hatching.

I've noticed an interesting pattern, my Abyssinian Eclipses from male or mixed incubators have all hatched with snake eyes, most of which fade to normal or near-normal, while all from my female incubator so far have hatched with full Eclipse eyes. All of my non-Ab Eclipses have hatched with solid eyes regardless of incubation temperature.

Being my first breeding season and thus a major learning experience, I have looked closely at all my hatchling's eyes when they first come out. They all appear to be solid, but as they grow, it seems within the first several weeks, most fade into snake eyes. I haven't checked their eyes closely recently, but last time I checked it looked like I only had one solid eye out of eight hatchlings.

Tonight is tub cleaning night, so I'll check again.

I've found that most of my Solid eyed hatchlings have remained for the most part. A small number of them have developed some slight snake eyes. The majority of the ones that have hatched out snake eyed, generally reduce as they age. I know they say that snake eyed eclipse parents can produce solid eyes just as easy as two solid eyed parents bred together, But I have noticed that I hatch more solid eyed hatchlings that retain their solid eyes from my adults that show the 100/100 eyes.

I would just like to say I am happy to see so far that nobody has clicked the

button. I would hope that anyone breeding for an eclipse trait would actually look at the eyes of the animal that hatches. So far anything that has hatched with solid eyes has remained solid. The others it seems the amount of iris that can be seen varies with age and development, and can either increase or decrease as the animal reaches adulthood. We have never had any yet that had a visible iris as a hatchling, then go to solid black/red.

I don't pay much attention to how they look when they hatch :( sorry.
This is my 2nd year breeding raptors and it seems like they tend to hatch out solid and then fade to some degree of snake-eyeness. My eyes don't focus up close so well anymore and I don't like stressing the little ones. So I usually just put them in a bin and don't inspect them much for a couple weeks.

I am interested in producing more raptors with solid red eyes. So far all of mine have partial eclipsed (snake-eyes). One of my female breeders has one solid eye. Do you think it is possible to get a raptor with 2 solid eyes from parents that don't have the solid eyes?
