Sorong Locale Green Tree Python

So we were vending at the Atlanta Repticon Show this weekend making tons of friends from the customers to the other vendors... So one of the Vendors set us up with a nice looking GTP (about 14''-16'', neonate? I dunno - I don't know the lingo yet).

Katie and I have always wanted a GTP, so this was an awesome chance we couldn't refuse. We picked up everything from Hooks to pinkies at the show, it was great. It was the first time we were vendors, and it won't be the last. Everyone was wonderful...

Anyways I just wanted to get all of your expert opinions on this little one. Maybe you could help us with a little bit of GTP jargon?

The Python:

On the way home we decided that we wanted to set it up in a vivarium. So we went around and collected the supplies we thought were necessary (including a few plants we just so happened to pick up at the show).

Where is it from?

You know, you see these beautiful reptiles at just about every reptile show you go to but I too never knew where they were from. So you made me curious, and I just had to know. I thought I'd share my findings with everyone.

Sorong happens to be a town/city in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. The area looks to be just northwest of Papua-New Guinea. From what I have heard on these, getting them to feed tends to be the biggest challenge. Best of Luck! It's gorgeous!

Wow! He's a cutie! Love the color! How's his temperment? The only GTP's I've seen personally are very tempermental, but I do love their colors. Of course since my fav color is lime green, I do favor the green guys, but I'm loving the yellow color too.

Whitney - They change in color. They start out life yellow or maroon and then change into the Lime Green adults.

I'll update everyone as soon as it feeds! lol

It better feed, we're leaving in two days! *crosses fingers*

Of course, not having our freaky faces staring at it for a week might do it some good...:p.

Thanks so much for the comments guys, I'm sure you'll be hearing updates often.

Nope we still haven't gotten the bugger to eat. We left it alone while we were gone (obviously) so that it wouldn't be as stressed... We're using f/t pinkies unthawed in hot water and using forceps to try to feed it.. Anyone have any tricks?

live pinks on forceps. gently tap the prey on the back of where his head and neck join, just a gentle little tap or rub right in that area.
