Kelli please don't think i was being a dick towards you or anything like that but those are feelings that i have been having for some time. maybe it's just insecurity or the fact that i just had to cut 5 of my BSB eggs open that didn't develop.

I promise you it's awesome having people like you get into leos and start breeding programs. I mean, think about it for a minute... why would someone like me be unhappy about new people getting into the leo hobby? New people mean new customers! New people are also a positive thing because they offer a breath of fresh air, so to speak, in the community. I love helping out people that are just getting started. I'm going to toot my own horn for just a second here and say that I have helped many of the successful breeders that have come up in the past several years, and have given my time, shared information, offered support, shit, I even built this website for the leo community. It's a very satisfying feeling for me when I see some of the people I have helped out and supported over the years succeed, because in a roundabout way that means I have also succeeded.

I don't think the subject of this thread has anything to do with breeders having issues with new people coming into the hobby. That is not a threat or worry to me, nor to any of the other leo breeders that I consider friends.

Sorry to hear about your eggs. No Ryan, somehow I don't see you producing 5000 babies in one season anytime in the near future. :) I've never even come close to producing that many, so it isn't gonna be me either.

This thread has absolutley nothing to do with new people entering the community or competing with others. If some look at it that way i appologize but it has nothing to do with them at all. I enjoy having new breeders come along, like kelli said they help in many ways.

IMO, this has more to do with a few 'breeders' who blatantly don't give a shit about playing fair, or for the rest of the hobby. They continue to overproduce and dump, which is driving the market down for everyone else. I agree that people can charge whatever they want for their animals... even sell them wholesale. I just do not understand why they are selling at wholesale prices to the general public when they can discreetly unload their excess inventory to resellers like CalZoo, LLL Reptile, Reptile Depot, etc.

We all know who these people are, and we also know they could care less about any of the rest of us. They've proven this over and over by their words and actions.

Blame it all on the Enigma for it is a wolf in sheep's clothing... :main_evilgrin:

I don't care about the market personally, but do care about friends effected by it...

What gets me is people who buy others hard work breed them like crazy and get looked upon as some great breeder because they're producing so many "high end" morphs...

In the near future these breeders will either greatly reduce their "collections" to focus on refining traits of what they consider sell best or move onto the next big thing in the reptile "industry"...

If you really want to make the big bucks get something you can market to the Ball Python breeders... :main_laugh:

I'm very happy with 100 babies...seems like a good number..not to many, but enough to get some really awesome stuff. Oh and YES there are true hobbyist left FYI. A hobbyist CAN make a little money back to pay for that hobby that's what i call 1 of the many "perks of the hobby."
