Temperature definitely does play a part in the pattern, as some of you know my SS Tremper actually escaped, I finaly found him alittle over a week later, he is only around 10 grams and has a pattern almost as dark as the bell SS's show. He was almost pure white before he escaped
I never stated that environmental temperatures didn’t affect coloration, only incubation temperatures. On the contrary I believe environmental temperatures have an effect either too hot or too cold. I believe it is stress related.

I noticed very early on when I first started doing Reptile Shows (particularly the National Reptile Breeders Expo in Florida), that some of my most colorful Tangerine Geckos would turn brown over night. I started bringing a High-Low Thermometer that I checked to see what the temp. was at night. I found out that they cranked the AC up at night so it could keep up with the amount of people that attend the show and also the amount of heat lamps most of the venders used. The temp. at night would go down to 58 degrees. From then on I brought a heating system for my storage box that consisted of Flexwatt Heat Tape, two small computer type fans, and a thermostat set to 88 degrees. That took care of that problem. I also noted that some of the geckos on display would go brown from sitting under the halogen lamps I use to illuminate. I now turn off the lights every so often and open the displays to let some cooler air in. It is not a perfect solution but it helps.

Thank you for the great read Albey! I love all of your Mack Snow post, this one and the Mack Snow Fasciolatius Cross thread.

I believe it is stress related.

Great point, Albey. I think you may be right about that, Trempers "brown" due to the stress involved with being at a lower temp, not because of the cooling of their skin.

The only thing that would make me think maybe that is not the case, is some of my Trempers have seemed to "cool" only their tails. They have been in warm enclosures ever since hatching though. ;)

Great read and pics Albey! It is kinda funny how the trempers seem to be lighter the the rest of the albino strains. Keep up the good work! :main_thumbsup:

Albey,

I've been away from a computer for a week, so I just now saw this post. Thanks so much for the great pictures and info. Here is a picture of a female that I have. She's a little over a year old now. Have you produced any with patterns as dark as hers?

Hey Jason,
I only produced five Albino Super Snow’s this year and they are all the light colored ones pictured in my first post. I think I saw a picture of yours earlier this year and was kind of surprised yours was so dark compared to mine. It is definitely very cool looking, much more what you would expect from a Tremper.

Just wanted to add 2 pics of hatchings for everyone to see. The first hatching was actually an escape that I found missing part of his tail :-\ The second was just hatched.
