I posted pics of this guy last week as a rescue from a Big Pet Chain. He was in terrible shape etc...(see bottom pic). Anyway I fed him everyday and kept his cage very humid and today he shed and looks incredible! His colors are unbelievable as he is super orange and yellow! The first band of color just behind his head instead of gray last week is a flamin' burnt orange to orange. Its amazing how much more healthy and colorful he looks from just days ago. Its also amazing how stress, dehydration and malnutrition can can decimate an animal quickly but also just as quick they can snap back with proper care and a little TLC. He is very small (just over 3") and still has a way to go yet but it looks like he is gonna be okay!

That's absolutely amazing, and at the same time, maddening that a pet store would allow something so beautiful to get to that condition!

He's gorgeous! Great job!:main_thumbsup:

great job! definitely a huge improvement. That gecko is lucky to have you around.

Is the dark area on his head from bruising? that almost looks like a burn?

Kudos for the rescuing that lucky leo! And you are rewarded with a awesome colored gecko that you probably did not expect.

I actually had a hatchling with a much smaller sore like that on her head when she first hatched. I don't know if she hatched like that or if she did it in the incubator somehow.

Head wound...

His head was like that when I got him. The wound is not a sore but a scrape as the skin was all bunched up next to the wound. Ive seen in animals that are dehydrated is their skin gets fragile and is damaged easily so he may have scraped his own head sliding under a hide or something. It may also be from a cagemate as he was housed with about 7-8 other juvenile Leo's that were all bigger than he. Thanks for all the compliments and I will post pics as he progresses further :main_thumbsup:

What a beautiful little gecko! I'm happy he is in a good home now.

And your adult male ... holy moly I am in love! What an awesome leo you have there! One of my favorites I have seen in awhile :main_thumbsup: just spectacular!

Thanks Kelli ! He came from the same Big Chain but from a different store in my same town. He has been there since he was a hatchling and I guess he wasnt "attractive" so he sat there for over a year.I got him just a couple of months ago and he was in great shape (just over 9" long and chunky!). He was well cared for so it shows how one store takes care of its animals but another fails completely at it! Its all about the staff I guess ???
