New Male Breeder has Arrived

As you may know from my other posts, I had to retire my male SS because of possible genetic problems with SS offspring. This morning my new male hypo snow arrived from Ohio Gecko (many thanks, Thad). Here he is, still nameless but not for long, inspecting the mealworm container and in his quarantine cage:

He's very calm and interested in his surroundings.

I was really sad about the SS until I realized that he's just retiring from breeding, not from my life. I don't know about other people, but sometimes I get to feeling that the best thing about my geckos is their breeding ability (not a great way to feel, but it happens). This has made me realize that I can enjoy him for just being himself.

:main_thumbsup: One of my favorite geckos is a chain store Jungle who is a non-breeder due to a tail tip kink. Your new breeder looks great, and your SS is a beautiful pet.

Putting a new gecko in your mealworm colony is not a good idea. if he had anything all your mealworms would be contaminated and then fed to your other geckos.

That's a good point that I didn't think of at the time. I was just unpacking him as I was taking pictures and wanted to put him down somewhere for a shoot. Live and learn.
