However, with all of the new combo morph names things can get confusing for more and more new members of the community, and even people who have been here for awhile. This is the point of this thread, to get the opinions of general members of the community and even other breeders so it can be seen what everyone really thinks about all of the new names that have been popping up.

It still will not stop people from doing what ever they want, I can take my names out of the equation and then again see new names pop out left and right, then what, we make those people take the names down? This is not going anywhere, people will continue doing what they want even if 90% of us agree on this. Lets agree to disagree, :main_yes:

If you buy ANYTHING and don't know what it is, you deserve what you get.

It's exactly that attitude that has allowed scammers to continue to do business. MANY people in this hobby are chasing the next big thing. Addictions result in impulsive behavior. That's one reason I don't like these names. If the seller uses a common identifying name, it engages you to think about what you are looking at. That is opposed to marketing hype which triggers your impulses.

Alberto, I am not sure why it seems you are directing most of your arguments towards me, but MANY others have expressed their opinions and feelings on this informative and interesting thread that have been much more direct than I have. I have not seen one single person (me included) single-out any particular breeder, so I'm sorry if you are taking it as a personal attack.

Marcia....I have to disagree with you here.....again...just my opinion.....but I think everyone knows that pretty early on (especially considering the other "black hole" thread that was taking place at the same time...that this discussion was directed primarily at Matt and Alberto....)

As far as anyone singling anyone out.....not only were they singled-out with a thread by Dan Poe that opened : "MATT AND ALBERTO"....
But I willl take lines from his post (sorry...I am not too proficient at using the quote feature) :

"do you want to be the guy that caused all that?"

"who does it benefit to let egos get in the way, and come off so defensive?"

.........now you guys MAY agree with what he is saying.....but to say that it is a respectful voicing of opinion is absolutely un-true. Would you feel respected if spoken to that way and then........

....on top of that...you and kelli made a point to applaude his post. Respectful?.....come on guys. You are both smarter than that....so am I.....I DO respect you both tremendously...I have said that publicly and privately to and about you. But I would not be honest to you or myself if I didnt say I am very surprised at the way this has been mishandled. It is your site....you are of course free to do as you see fit. And I DO respect that...but I am a little surprised at this all. I think it could have been accomplished in a lot more respectful manner. And for the record....I would have voiced the same dissappointment if someone said things like this about you guys and anyone else. Not that my opinion should weigh any more than anyone else's. But I do want to make my feelings heard on this. I appreciate your consideration and I very much appreciate your work here on this forum. Thanks.

Of course it isn't going to stop people from doing whatever they want. No one will ever be able to force someone to do something that is absolutely against their will, but in turn people can decide whether or not to accept or reject what they choose to as well.

That doesn't mean we should stop trying to discuss this and simply let it be swept under the carpet though. It's good to try to reach understandings with others.

Mike, I do not believe that was ever their intention nor do I believe it to be any sort of personal grudge or hard feelings.

My personal opinion is that Kelli and her moderators have been incredibly tolerant of what reads to me as blatant advertising.
The combo morphs that have been posted recently have not been worded "hey guys check out what I just hatched, I'm thinking of calling it XYZ."
They have been worded "This is XYZ, also for sale will be ABC, 123, and RST"

By all means, disagree with me, but that is certainly how I read the posts.
I am grateful that we have had the opportunity to drool over new combo morphs, but I don't like marketing hype shoved done my throat on what is otherwise a friendly community forum.

That was how it seemed, and why I made my post directly to Matt and Alberto. They came into this thread, and the other taking this personally, and that was why I was speaking to them.

Mike, you cannot take three small sentences from all of what I posted and turn them into something negative. They each mean nothing by themself, and it is the post in whole that has alot of thought put into it. Also it was made with nothing but the best intentions, and a great amount of respect.

Yes Marcia, it all started from Matt's post on the Black Hole and I thought it was really bad how, you included, turned a thread on showing off my geckos in to a name debate. It started from one of our post and now I should not take it personally when you guys also applaude Dan Poe post that was directly to us? Sorry, it cannot be more clear then this Marcia.
I still love you though, :main_yes: , but I am hard headed Italian and I cannot let this one by.

A Super Snow Enigma Tremper Patternless Albino Blizzard is not a good name for a morph. It's the genetic make up but a good name I think not.

You worded it wrong if the leo in question is albino always put it at the front as every thing after it is albino.

Actually, it wasn't directed primarily at Alberto & Matt, but it may have been the 'straw that broke the camel's back' so-to-speak. I can understand why it might seem that way, though... and it certainly was not the intention of this POLL. If you recall, there have been a few other recent threads that were directed at a couple of other big-name breeders, and many threads asking for clarification of what the different morph names actually were. I thought it would be a good idea to post this POLL to see how others felt about this issue. By the number of emails and PM's I have been receiving from members, they seem to be glad the poll was made... even as heated as the discussion has been.

Any member here on this Forum has the right to post a poll if they are interested in knowing how others think of feel about a subject. A poll is a very safe way to express individual opinions... especially for those who don't feel comfortable with posting dialogue. Heck, why not post a poll asking members if THIS poll was worthwhile?

Best of intentions, perhaps, but Alberto has already stated in this thread that his intentions are to act in support of his business. If he wants to find ways of increasing sales exposure, he has no place taking offense at this discussion, it's free advertising for him right?
