i adopted stinky from the city of san antonio pound 15 years ago. she came to me with really stinky poo and the mange. i had two other cats at the time and i had to treat them for mange too .she has been with me through thick and thin for 15 years and now she is dying and there is nothing i can do. tomorrow morning i will be taking her into the vet to be put down. she is starting to have pain and today she did not drink any water and she has eaten no food. it's hard to make the choice but i do not want her to suffer she doesn't deserve that. she has been one of the best cats i have ever had and she is going to be missed horribly. i told her it is okay to go. i honestly wish she would die peacefully here at home, preferably in my arms but i do not think that will happen.

her full name is Allie Stinkybutt

here she is

She's precious. I'm sorry you have to put her down I can only imagine how that's going to be. My sisters mother had a shih-tzu for 15 years who was dying of cancer and she tried so hard to keep her alive but had decided she was in too much pain and scheduled to have her put down and the night before she passed in her sleep at the edge of the bed by her feet :( . Either way she'll pass peacefully and will be in a better place just be strong.

Oh, Robin, I'm so sorry. It'll be one of the hardest things you've had to do but I'm sure she'll be happy that you were selfless enough to send her to a better place. My thoughts are with you and her.

Robin, I am so sorry about little Stinkybutt. If it's any condolance, I think that the best gift you could give her right now would be to relieve her of pain permanently. I understand you would want her to pass at home, but assisting the process when they're suffering with certain medications makes it much easier for the pet and the owner too. She can still be in your arms for the procedure, just ask. They'll accomodate. I wish I could be there as your technician. My thoughts are with you and your family.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Shoot Robin... This is very sad... You need to remember though, YOU gave her 15 years of good living by taking her in a caring for her... 15 years is a good long life for a cat... But the longer you have them the harder it is when they pass on... I am very sorry for your loss Robin, and I totally know what you are feeling because one of my favorite pets passed away not too long ago and she was also a cat... It is just like losing a member of the family...
