hey thad, i would deff agree with your theory on the RAPTORS. it makes perfict sence. and i would also agree that it probably is a giant. just not a super. as for thse 3 i was talking about they were all just over 11" give or take.

Sorry I just finished reading this thread and here is a Super Giant I bought from Ron himself. He weighs 110g and is still growing and he is about 11.5 in.

There is a noticable difference between a normal and what is considered a giant line animal... Tail ratios seem to be longer, body seems longer, limbs are longer and the head even looks to be enlongated compared to normal non-giants... This seems to be especially true with the hatchlings and juviniles/sub-adults... They have that "lanky" look to them...

How this can not be seen by some is beyond me... I am certain that I would be able to easily pick out a giant line animal from a normal... Anyone should be able to... I know that they exist and it could be considered a true morph once the way the genetics actually work a figured out...

Also, I do not think price if affected when the word giant is put infront of the name... So I doubt anyone will make much more money by adding "Possible Giant"...

Nev, those two fit RTs discription to a T and if they were in a bin filled with non-giants, it would be very easy to pick those two out as the giants...

havent heard from you in a while..... and was that aimed at me????
Ha ha whats happenin Nevin. Nah it wasn't directed @ you as much as much as to the topic in general. Alot of my bell hybino babies have the same long and lanky look to them. Especialy the father plus he's the same length as my advertised super giant and weighs 3 grams less. Those two bells you posted definately fit the long lanky giant description. Hopefully they get monstrouse cause if so I want one. :)

For the record as far as Bells go, most of mine are really large as well. The original two females I got from Mark Bell were very long and pretty stout for girls (around 90ish grams). The first generation of Bell Hybinos came from SHCT X Bell parents, and as some of you probably remember, the original, true Hypo Carrot Tails were very large geckos.

IDK I do not have much faith left in the "Giant" project, to be honest. I`ve had my doubts that some of the geckos I`ve sold to people in the past were indeed Giants or Super Giants because some of them never attained the size that they should have. They were the largest geckos produced from geckos RT sold to me as Giants, but were not showing anything other than slightly normal size. The parent Giants were really long looking, but not really very large otherwise. If the offspring were Giants, then it is true that they will not all grow to be that much larger than a normal. Which can be a real problem.

I still have a large Giant, that was purchased as a Giant. I also have a few "suspected Giants", that sadly, are not that big. The problem is that they were from breedings which should only produce Giants and Supers. So that pretty much explains my disbelief.

I`ve produced only one, that I grew large enough to be considered a "Super Giant" by Ron`s standards, I sold him, and am pretty sure I let the buyer know I was no longer much of a believer. ;)

thats insane... because i've got the opposite. i dont have a female over 50 grams.

and dan.... what do you have to say about that original male you sold me as a super giant? hes now 120-130 grams. and he got there FAST

I have a Hybino that originally came from Kelli and she's ~80g, but she's not a Giant as far as I can tell. Just "hearty." Beautiful animal, though.

Nevin, that was the only gecko I`de produced that ever got that big. As far as I know anyway, some customers are never heard from again. I am pretty sure I let you know he was a "super" by Ron`s standards, and that I was no longer very confident in the genetics, myself. He was also not test bred and proven. He was pretty darned big though, and like you said he did get a lot bigger. If he is proving out, you would know better than I. :main_thumbsup:

I just think that if anything, from my experience with them, that it is not as simple as it should be to get large Giants, and monsterous Supers.

well dan i got that male and the female giant from you, i dont know if you remember that or not. but they have made some huge babies. as with you i dont know how any of them are now, but when they hatched they were all between 5-7 grams on hatch day. also i have one giant that came from the beast X a normal girl who reached 110 grams.

Sure I remember, that was the gecko I was talking about.

I just did not want to bring your name into my post, since I was posting somewhat in doubt of the Giants in general.

Like I was saying some of the breedings which should only produce Giants/Supers, only produced slightly larger than average geckos, for me. So I did not feel very confident after that, also after hatching only that one Super Giant. Your "Beast", I mean. :main_thumbsup:

Maybe I just had bad luck with them!
