I use tap but I also use start right water clarifier ( I swear by the stuff for any small animals, cheap and can be found in the fish section) that gets rid of contaminents and I let it set 24 hours before using it. I do this for drinking and misting water.

Bottled water,

usually a local one (Australian or New Zealand) And of the two i usually buy spring water or rainwater. New Zealand spring water in particular is very rich in minerals and silica.

I myself do not drink tap water, it tastes nasty and you don't know what chems thay put in it at the plant. but you can taste it.

I cant imagine all that can be good for a small animal. Another way to think of it is that you never put fish in a tank of tap water, you treat the water first.

So i don't believe you should give Geckos(or any small animal) tap water. Just my 2 cents

I use bottled water. It is what I have always used for my small animals. My dog even gets tap water thru a filter. The water here is horrendous. It actually smells bad.

Most people in Hong Kong drink boiled tap water. My leos get tap water with ReptiSafe for both drinking and misting :)

You cant drink the tap water here in Malaysia. You'll get a stomach ache if you do drink it so I use filtered water that my family and I drink for my gecko.

Actually- I was using filtered water back in PA- forgot about that. That tap water not only tasted nasty but it literally killed some of my plants! After that it was all filtered for my fish, geckos, gerbils and plants. In MD I love the tap water so wasn't concerned, ditto up here in MA. I do let it sit out for a while before using it, though- to let the chlorine breathe off.

I would not recommend using distilled as that's pretty much h2o only. It can really mess up acid/base balance in blood... and really just concentrations in general. If you drink too much of that stuff you can actually drown! (Concentration of water is so high outside your cells it osmosis into them.) You can drown from drinking too much regular water, too, of course, but you have to drink like 2 gallons in an hour or something ridiculous...

I don't know where in pa you lived but I live in the Philly area andthe water is one of the cleanest in the country. That being said, I use tap for my lizards. I use filtered for my turtles and darts then I condition the water also. And for the fish.

I used to use tap water and I still do sometimes but I'm starting to switch. Our water is unreliable. I've been doing random tests on it with a fish water testing kit ever since my two hermit crabs both dropped dead at the same time. The pH jumps up and down like crazy and I get higher than normal results on the contaminate tests. I don't have a chlorine test but I'd imagine it's probably through the roof as sometimes you can faintly smell it in the water. I have a water cooler with spring water so I use that now.

Be careful with clairifiers. They actually stick debris together so it can be removed from an aquarium via filter or gravel vac.

I use filtered tap water tested also for chloramine (must be removed with dechlorinator) PH, hardness and ammonia. My water is a borderline gross so if its nasty at any given time I have bottled backups lol.

I just use tap water, it's definitely drinkable, but since I live in the same area as Liz I should probably also test the water. If we're getting it from the same source and it killed her hermit crabs I don't want her drinking it. Fortunately we get water cooler water delivered so I could give her that, or filtered water from the refrigerator.

Tap water but boil it first and then let it cool to room temperature. Kettle has a filter thing on it too.

Tap water. Our town water isn't 'purified' with chlorine, though - they use ozone, and I have yet to see a water treatment for that
