Oh, wow. She does not look good. I strongly recommend taking her to that other vet who knows about herps. See if you can work out Care Credit or a payment plan with them. She probably needs some significant care by this point. Poor kiddo!

yeah this happened pretty much overnight...the severely lethargic thing. I called the vet. I left a message on her emergency line and haven't heard back. There isn't a thing I can do at this point but to wait which is killing me.

I was going to say care credit too, if you're having trouble with finances...if you have decent credit, they give you a balance, take care of the bill for you, and you pay them back later. It's like an animal hospital credit card. I've seen lots of people get accepted for it when they assured me they wouldn't.

Keep us posted!

Thanks.

She is shedding again.... WHY would she need to shed again? she shed about 2 weeks ago and 2 weeks before that... usually it is about once a month.

My Lizzy is going through the same thing...she hasn't eaten for about a month and a half now and is shedding every 2 weeks like clockwork. She just started losing tail mass, I think her eating the shed has kept her going. I started helping her shed by putting her in a warm bath to soften up the skin and helping her get it off of her toes and feet with a q-tip. She just shed today and got almost all of it off herself, it got stuck around her...female parts! I was losing my mind trying to help her and then I found this website. TY.

Anyway, I went to ***** today for puppy stuff and saw "Jump-Start Caloric Supplement & Appetite Stimulant" Lizzy loved it!!! It says to stick the applicator in their mouth but she was licking it off of the applicator after I put a little on her nose. A guy that has helped me with her before asked me what was going on and he said the same thing...it's shed that didn't come off of her eyes. He called it "capped" and suggested mineral oil. I gave her a nice warm bath with mineral oil in it and then held her in her towel and rubbed some mineral oil on her capped eyes(one worse than the other). The shed that was stuck came right off and she pottied. She is in her hide now so hopefully it will work soon.

I have that stuff already.... haven't tried it.

I am sorry you are going through the same thing. Is she lethargic like in my pictures? I honestly don't think that she will make it through the night.

maybe she keeps shedding because of the stuck eye caps. I know snakes will shed more often if they have some stuck shed but I didnt think leos did that. I dont have much experience with leos having stuck shed, never had a problem. Ive never seen a stuck eye cap or seen my leos shed their eye caps but Ive heard of it from this website so I assume its true.

Try to get the caps off her eyes and possibly feed her some slurry or something. Dont feed her a ton tho because if she is super lethargic then the process of digestion could really tucker her out even more.
Good luck with everything.

Lizzy isn't lethargic like that at all, she still runs away from me when I try to pick her up and moves around her aquarium like normal.

If this worked for her, I would try it on your Leo ASAP. This may be the only option if you can't afford a vet visit.
Try and find the appetite stimulant to keep your Leo going.
Good luck!

I did just use some. I also helped her shed. She didn't have any strength to do it herself.

My question is.. What causes this? I can't see any more skin in her eyes..but they are white and cloudy and just icky. She is still keeping them closed but opened them briefly when I put some cold water on her to help with the skin on her toes.

same...she is just laying there...I haven't picked up her yet. She did seem to perk up a little while I was feeding her that stuff last night but she didn't really eat much...

The vet called back. She won't take payments. We do have credit cards, however I am not sure that my hubby will let me put the $125 on it. We have too much on there already. GRRRRRR

Have you tried warm, sterile saline solution on her eyes yet? Flushing them may help them heal? However, it may be best to keep handling down to a very minimum if she's so sick, but you could probably flush her eyes once or twice a day when you feed her?

I have done saline solution but it has been a little while... My mom offered to paid for a the vet visit. I am just waiting on the vet to call me back to make an appointment. I got the answering machine again. Might have to wait till next week. She only works on Tues/Thurs. :(

She keeps "sleeping" with her head over the water dish... any ideas? is she just drinking or is she wanting more moisture? She isn't in it..just over it...
