I think if you massively inbred those that you would get a galaxy. I think it's the eclipse gene in the ab making the color lighter.
well these 2 are off my TANK & CUPCAKE pair up.. both i believe are giants & the one right how ever could be a poss super giant.. its younger then the one on the left by like a month maybe a month & sum change.. look how much longer it is..... now im wondering what the offspring would be like if i breed one of these to my giant mystery gecko (that ima say is a mack snow blizzard eclipse)......

Thank you mitchrobot. Like other veteran breeders have said before, where are the building blocks? You don't just get five of one new mutation overnight. And he has been proof breeding these for years. So there should be hundreds of low quality ones out there.

Ok I have really no clue why Im chimming in on this convo as I am SUCH a newbie, but here goes.

First book on Leo's I ever got was The Herptoculture of Leopard Geckos, I have a lot of respect for Ron Tremper, but Morgan you make a point...if this is a "new Morph" why is it that it isn't made public what the building blocks are, where the tons of babies that didn't quiet make it...where are they? In my experience those who do not disclose details of a "discovery" don't do so because there is something "fishy" going on in the background.

I do 100% agree with Semus in that the current state of breeding affairs in Leo's is starting to get out of hand and driven by other things beside research and love of the animals...$$$

Sad to me...as I don't understand the reason behind why someone like me who does this for hobby has to spend upwards of $500 for a really interesting and pretty Leo. Its no wonder ppl flock to pe/co and Pe/smart for their leos.

Great thread ppl!! I actually found it very interesting, I like the passion from all of you within reason of also being respectful, thats what this forum is about. :main_thumbsup:

I double checked my Galaxy breeding project components and I found a snow in the mix (my bad), so this impressive morph is a super snow eclipse variation. It is a co-dom. Lots of potential. The albino version is pure pure white from nose to tail tip with all red eyes of course.

Double checked huh? Anyone who can't see that it is a Super Snow might want to go see a good optometrist... :main_laugh:

After 32 generations of raising gecko's you'd think he would have double checked before claiming a "new morph". To his credit at least he fessed up before selling them though. :main_no:

It's been that way for the better part of to over a decade. With leos it started with the patternless (murphy) and high-yellows. It spread to tangs, and then in 96 and 98 albinos were introduced. Tremper didn't even originate the strain, but he did re-originate it through "Bubba." Rainwater came onto the scene in 98 with his strain. Around this same time blizzards started to be offered, many selective morphs started to be refined, etc., etc., etc.

Sad to me...as I don't understand the reason behind why someone like me who does this for hobby has to spend upwards of $500 for a really interesting and pretty Leo. Its no wonder ppl flock to pe/co and Pe/smart for their leos.

This is typically done until the trait can be proven out. As I stated above, the Tremper line ties back to 1996, but Ron didn't release to the public until 1999. HOWEVER, that's due to "Rosy" dieing in Ron's care and Bubba, a het, restarting the line. Food for thought though, if you think $500 is a lot (and it is) try people regularly buying piebald ball pythons about 8-10 years ago for $40-75K like they were on the dollar menu at McDonalds. The mere fact that one can have these geckos breeding by 6-8 months of age is reason enough for me to never again (with maybe a few exceptions) pay over $500 for a leo; I'll get the components and make it myself. I learned my lesson by paying $1000 for a Tremper albino female back in 1999 (see page 4 of this thread).

Yeah, we ALL knew already that the "Galaxy" is a Super Snow Eclipse. It's good that he admitted it. I hope he hasn't sold any of these for big bucks to the Japanese... Surely he would not do something like that though.

and I am being a smartass.

But it reality, this thread and Tremper's marketing ploys make me extremely sad that mine and many others hobby is being used as a money pit. It also makes me sad that it isnt the first time he had done this. Abyssinian... now this? Oh yeah anyone remember the trend setting, groundbreaking new morph called the "Firefox"?

It just make me sour and sad at the same time.

I thought firefox was just a line bred tang? Designer geckos has them for sale. I like the colors but can't tell the difference. I like Kelli's electrics better. Or pacific gecko's pcific tangs.
