I have also heard about this from an europen breeder who I respect very much...
I know he bought some W/Y and they were very sick (I have not heard what they are sick from though). He was lucky and managed to get eggs from his females before they got into the worst shape...
Well...it ended with that he was forced to put all his W/Y down.
The good thing is that all the babies he hatched are healthy.

I should also had gotten a few W/Y last year...but in the end I coulden´t just beacuse they was in such a bad shape and very ill.

I also saw the W/Y Dawid bought last year...the male was in a pretty good state. But the females....pure skin and bones. I know that sadly one of them died...even though Dawid worked so hard and did everything he could trying to save her. If I don´t remember wrong he also got some medicin from the vet.

So it´s many warnings over here about buying W/Y, and from who!

But this info dosen´t proof anything eigther, it´s just the info I have and can share...

Wow. That's interesting, Lotta. I had never heard any of that before. I wonder what they were sick with? Weird.

If you guys know of anyone that took their sick W & Y's to the vet, I wonder what the vet report said?

My w&y had bacterias called "pseudomonas" and they had worms.. . 1 w&y died and second now is a little better . Now she is after taking medication and she is much better . The skin back to normal and she eats a lot .

You are working hard to get her back to health!
You are doing great Dawid :)

I can say that topic about w&y morph is very funny and strange. You ask why? So I'll try to answer. In 2005 I knew one breeder who had some females w&y which price was 250PLN(=110 USD or 70 EUR). I decided to buy one. When she arrived to me, she was very sick so I gave it back. Before I buy this morph I were consulting with some breeders about this morph and what they thought about genetic this morph. All said the same, w&y was the "genetic bin", something worse than SHT. The funniest thing is that all this breeders now are the bigger breeders in Poland and all want to have w&y :) because w&y's body looks like enigma.
I think that more of w&y are sick and weak by selective breeding and inbreed because getting new bloodline geckos are very hard, expensive and takes long time in Belarus. After my trip to Belarus I can say only : "If you want to live like Bill Gates and see how looked PRL in Poland go to Belarus and take 100$".

Time will show the truth about w&y, that's all.

Read again post #7 in this thread. There is link to post on other forum on which Sergei wrote full history how W&Y were made.

Strange looking female was hatched and was crossed with her father, but only a 2 hatchlings were like its mother. From this point they started inbreeding.

In post #7 you can find info about results of crossing W&Y with non W&Y. Blazing Blizzard + W&Y = normal looking leos (of course hets for BB).

I was wondering last night if those geckos are different than the ones Dawid has, as the outcome is different. If normals were hatched out=no w&y in the f1 generation, how are they dominant?
It will be interesting to see the results of the crossings Dawid and his friend have done this season.

Marlo, I don't think the number of hatchlings from the W&Y x BB was mentioned(may have been), but could that just be bad luck hitting the odds with a few clutchs maybe?

It wasn`t mentioned in the e-mail I got from Sergey.

Just a quick update on my W&Y:
it seems to be perfectly healthy and eats very good. I will do a bacterial and parasitological fecal examination- as I do with all new animals I get from breeders I don`t know really good (and even then I`ll do it from time to time) and will treat the gecko if it has anything.
But no sign of any illness and the other four W&Y I have seen in Hamm seemed to be healthy.
No obvious health issues here.

I would like to know if there have been so many rumours and arguing about any other morph in leopardgeckos- and if it`s worth it. I don`t know why it makes some people pointing with fingers on some breeders. Come on, relax. There are some breeders working with enigmas and W&Y and try to find out more about them and everyone should have the time and the patience to wait what they will work out.

In the end it`s just a hobby for most of us- and the animals are just some geckos that probably couldn`t care less themselves:main_rolleyes:

Concentrate on your own projects and be curious about what others are working on. It`s part of the fun, isn`t it?

Take care,
Karsten

Same at my friend that bought his 1.2 group about 3 or 4 weekes ago. I saw them in person and they were eating well and looked healthy.

Hello,

so they are W&Y x giant tremper albino/giant?
Mmmhh, I can`t see any W&Y influence and no enigma similarities here,...

This morph gets stranger and stranger.

Kind regards

Karsten
